1892. Vappu Biörcke and Kaarlo HÀrkönen get to know each other during the summer in the countryside at the birthday of Vappu Jalle-sedÀ. In Helsinki, the young people continue their courtship under the supervision of Vapu's aunt, Moster Mella.
