Rhonda LaChanze Sapp (born December 16, 1961), known professionally as LaChanze, is an American actress, singer, and dancer. She won theĀ Tony Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role in a MusicalĀ inĀ 2006Ā for her role as Celie Harris Johnson inĀ The Color Purple. She is also known for The Help (2011), Hercules (1997), and Hercules (1998).
