He is known for his role asĀ DineshĀ in theĀ HBOĀ comedy seriesĀ Silicon ValleyĀ (2014–2019) and for co-writing and starring in the romantic comedy filmĀ The Big SickĀ (2017). For co-writing the latter with his wife,Ā Emily V. Gordon, they were nominated for theĀ Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. In 2018,Ā Time magazine named him one of theĀ 100 most influential people in the world.Ā He was nominated for theĀ Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama SeriesĀ for his role inĀ The Twilight ZoneĀ executive produced byĀ Jordan PeeleĀ in 2019.
